THIS PROJECT IS NOW CLOSED
This project involves visiting the new Adult Mental Health Unit at University Hospital Llandough. Wards include: Crisis Assessment, Acute Admission x 3, Neuropsychiarty, Supported Recovery, Forensic Psychiatry and Forensic Rehabilitation.
Volunteers will befriend and facilitate activities with patients who have various mental health conditions. These patients will also be at different points in their recovery. Volunteers on some wards will also work in conjunction with nursing staff and the SVC Project Coordinator to arrange suitable evening activities.
It is ideal for anyone interested in the field of mental health, or someone who enjoys working closely with people. Anyone can apply but you need to be a good listener as well as proactive with starting conversations and activities. Commitment to the project is essential as the volunteers are valued by both the patients and the staff team.
Please note if you are interested in the Supported Recovery ward you will be working with the Activities Nurse to plan sessions each week. Tuesday sessions will be social focused think board games and quizes. Thursday sessions will focus on baking and cooking.
