WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR SUMMER VOLUNTEERS
The Adferiad Unit is based at St Cadoc's Hospital in Caerleon (Newport). It is a 22 bedded Unit which specialises in the assessment, care and treatment of people experiencing a variety of mental health problems.
We are looking for three volunteers per session to support the Occupational Therapist team in facilitating activities out of hours. The volunteers will be responsible for facilitating activities for patients on the ward such as a film night, bingo or planting pots in the garden. In addition volunteers will befriend patients and provide a listening ear.
This is a challenging environment so please bear this in mind when applying for this project. Volunteers do not need to have previous experience of being on an Acute Mental Health ward but suitable volunteers will need to be tough-skinned, have an awareness of risk and their own level of ability.
Volunteers applying for this project will be invited in for an informal chat with the Project Coordinator regarding a series of questions. You will receive these in advance.
